Microsoft is a company known for its computer software, hardware, and gaming consoles like the Xbox. They’ve been in the industry for quite some time, and never have we seen a pair of headphones from them until now. Today, we are going to be talking about the Surface Headphones. They are an over-ear noise-canceling headphones, and they are impressive. We use the word “impressive” because this is Microsoft’s first attempt to make headphones.

So, without further ado, let’s begin our discussion about Surface Headphones. So, the first thing you’ll notice after opening the box is a travel case, and it’s quite large. Most people like to travel with headphones, and that case will take a little more space in the bag, but that is not a deal-breaker. Inside the case, you’ll get a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack for a wired connection and a USB Type-C cable to charge your device.

You can charge the headphones for about two hours to receive a full battery, and this is giving users only about 11 hours or less. This is much less than  what you get from other high-end headphones on the market today.

The audio quality these headphones offer is just damn impressive. These headphones have the appropriate amount of bass to listen to certain genres, especially hip-hop; the mix is nice and balanced enough to listen to vocals and pop. Some users reported that they had a little problem with the highs, especially when listening to rock and metal. The noise-canceling feature on this headphones is pretty good but not the best.

In order to turn on noise cancelation, you have to turn and rotate the dial located on the left side. Also, you have another dial on the right side to adjust your volume for taking calls or listening to music. Now, this was a great touch on Microsoft’s end because instead of buttons, you now have two dials which rotate very smoothly, very fast, and this makes it very convenient for users. Surface Headphones also support touch gestures where you can tap to pause and play, double-tap to skip to the next song, and triple-tap to go to the previous song. There aren’t any touch gestures on the headphones to reduce the volume while having a conversation with someone. If someone approaches and you have your music playing, all you need to do is take them off to pause the music. That’s a pretty neat feature from Microsoft. Also, while wearing this pair of headphones, if you tap and hold the side panel, that brings up the voice assistant, which is Cortana by default. You can switch to either Siri or Google assistant, depending on the operating system of the phone you are using.

The headphones come only in a white matte finish, which is okay, but most users will like the matte black to be available for this modelust like for a Surface laptop or Surface Pro 6.
