Will Microsoft bring something new into Windows 10 in 2019? This is the most lingering question for Windows 10 users globally. Well, the wait is on, and with the next Windows 10 features update now in top gear, we are expecting both releases to commence in 2019, with the first rollout in April. Codenamed 19H1, Microsoft has introduced new and exciting features for computers enrolled in the Windows 10 Insider Preview.

So, what are the new features of Windows 10 for 2019?

Windows Light Theme

With the majority of software companies developing dark themes recently, Microsoft now gives us a choice between light and dark themes. Currently, if you go to Settings > Personalization > Colors and choose Light, you’d expect the whole system to become lighter too. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Pro Tip: It is possible to fix many PC issues by using the PC Repair tool. PC Repair is easy to use and reliable Windows optimization software developed to fix hundreds of system issues.

However, now available in the new Windows version, 19H1, the Light Theme will change the entire user-interface to become lighter. This includes the Start Menu, taskbar, and Action Center, among other elements.

To set the light theme:

  • Open Settings.
  • Go to Personalization.
  • Under Themes, click “Choose your color.”
  • Select Light.

You can also set the new default wallpaper by going to Settings > Personalization > Theme > Windows Light.

Action Center

At first glance, you may not notice any significant changes, but, if you expand the Action Center, there’s a new slider at the bottom to quickly adjust your screen’s brightness.

Additionally, unlike before when you had to configure your preferred actions from the Settings app, now you can tweak all the changes you want directly within the Action Center. This means you can add, edit, and rearrange buttons without having to open Settings.

Display brightness is now consistent

In some instances, the brightness of your screen changes when you connect your battery charger. In the new release, 19H1, the brightness is consistent whether you’re on battery power or using your charger.

Is your computer running slow or suffering system glitches? If so, it may need maintenance. Try running a dedicated PC optimization tool to check the health of your PC and apply the necessary fixes.

In other words, the system now remembers your preferred display brightness and it doesn’t affect the Battery Saver Mode.

More control over Windows Updates

Microsoft is introducing two important features that give users more control over when to update Windows 10.

1. Pause updates

Now you can pause Windows Updates quickly and easily:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security.
  • Under Windows Update, there’s a new option “Pause updates.”

You can adjust the number of days you want the updates paused by visiting “Advanced options.” Still, security and maintenance updates will be installed regularly.

2. Intelligent Active Hours

In the current Windows 10 version, you can define your active hours to prevent Windows from rebooting when you’re in the middle of something. However, what happens when you don’t have a fixed schedule, or what if you forget to adjust the active hours when your shift changes?

That’s where Intelligent Active Hours comes in. Windows can now automatically adjust your active hours based on your device activity.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open Update & Security.
  3. Under Windows Update, select “Change active hours.”
  4. Click to toggle the button to On.

Now, you can go on with your work without fear of disruptions from an unexpected system reboot.

Enhanced Windows Search

The new Windows 10 version comes with a feature called the Enhanced mode, which manages search indexing. Now, you can enable Windows to search all the folders and drives in your PC. Previously, the search was limited to documents, videos, pictures, and your desktop.

This feature also lets you exclude specific folders that you don’t want to appear in your searches. The feature is not turned on by default and to enable it:

  1. Go to Settings > Cortana.
  2. Search for Windows search settings.
  3. Hit Enter to open the “Searching Windows” settings.
  4. Under “Find My Files,” click Enhanced.
  5. The one-time indexing process may take 15 minutes or longer depending on the number of files you have stored on your PC.

when the process is complete, the search will begin returning your additional files. Now, you can instantly access any file by using the Windows Search.

To add files that you want to be excluded, use the steps above and locate “Excluded Folders” just below “Find My Files.”

Updates can be unpredictable. But, as Microsoft develops and tests new features of Windows 10 for 2019, ensuring your computer is protected will keep your files and data safe. No other tool works as comprehensively as Auslogics Anti-Malware when it comes to malware threats.

The software thoroughly checks your system for possible security issues and detects malicious items that may bypass your antivirus. The fact the Anti-Malware works perfectly with your antivirus means that your PC will always be safe from hackers.
