Standard software should not be able to cause BSOD: if an application crashes, it should do so without affecting the operating system. Furthermore, blue screens are caused by low-level software running in the Windows kernel. When a Blue Screen of Death occurs, Windows saves the information about the crash to your hard drive by creating a dump file to help identify the cause of your error. You can also check the Event view to find information about the error.
