To do so:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your Google Sheet and highlight the cell that you want to protect.<\/li>\n<li>Select the \u201cData\u201d button, and then open \u201cProtected sheets and ranges\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>On the \u201cProtected sheets &amp; ranges&#8221; pane that appears on the right side, write a brief description of the specific cell that you plan to protect.<\/li>\n<li>Next, select \u201cSet permissions\u201d. Next, choose \u201cSet permissions\u201d and select those that you want to be allowed to modify the spreadsheet.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cDone\u201d when you&#8217;re finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>How to Protect an Entire Spreadsheet from Editing<\/h2>\n<p>You may want to pass on information without the need for team members to make any changes. For this case, it&#8217;s easier to give them the view instead of edit permission. This way, those people with whom you want to share the spreadsheet may only view without altering any data in the spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<h3>To do so:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your Google Sheet and then go to Data &gt; Protected sheets and ranges.<\/li>\n<li>On the \u201cProtected sheets &amp; ranges\u201d pane that appears on the right side, select \u201cSheet\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the sheet that you want to protect from the drop-down menu, and then click the \u201cSet permissions\u201d button.<\/li>\n<li>Select the \u201cRestrict who can edit this range\u201d option.<\/li>\n<li>Click the drop-down list and then click \u201cCustom\u201d.
