There are various remote wipe options for laptops that you can apply today to ensure the safety of your data.<\/p>\n

1. Turn On the Find My Device Feature on Your Laptop<\/h2>\n

Currently, Microsoft allows users to locate a stolen or lost device remotely using the \u2018Find my device\u2019 feature. This feature enables you to locate your laptop\u2019s GPS coordinates, making it easier to track the device.<\/p>\n

To turn on the ‘Find my device’ feature on Windows 10:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Press the Windows Key+I to open \u201cSettings\u201d. Alternatively, simply click \u201cStart\u201d and select \u201cSettings\u201d.<\/li>\n
  2. Scroll down to Update & Security, and then go to \u201cFind my device\u201d.<\/li>\n
  3. Click on the \u201cChange\u201d button.<\/li>\n
  4. On the \u201cSave my device\u2019s location periodically\u201d window that pops up, click to toggle the button to \u201cOn\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you lose your laptop or it’s stolen, follow these steps:<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Visit Microsoft\u2019s official site and sign in to your Microsoft account using the same credentials that you use on your stolen or lost device.<\/li>\n
    2. Your device will be listed here. Select \u201cFind my device\u201d to open a map showing your device\u2019s location.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To secure your data, you need to turn on BitLocker.<\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. Press the Windows Key and type in manage bitlocker.<\/li>\n
      2. Choose the first result, Manage BitLocker.<\/li>\n
      3. Select \u201cTurn on BitLocker\u201d and follow the on-screen prompts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This decrypts your data, and a person will require a recovery key to view it.<\/p>\n

        2. Erase Data Remotely Using Microsoft Intune<\/h2>\n

        Microsoft Intune offers cloud-based mobile and PC management functionalities. Mobile devices and laptops store delicate company data that can’t risk being leaked, and Intune lets you separate your personal files from your company\u2019s files.<\/p>\n

        Using Intune managed apps, you can selectively or fully wipe data from your devices, remotely lock your devices and reset passcodes.<\/p>\n

        3. Input your password to sign in to Intune. Wait for your device to complete registration and then select the \u201cClose\u201d button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          That\u2019s it. Now your device is added to Microsoft Intune.<\/p>\n

          Next, use these steps to wipe data remotely:<\/h3>\n

          1. Visit the Microsoft Azure<\/a> portal and sign in to the account you just created.<\/li>\n
          2. Choose \u201cAll services\u201d and then search for \u201cIntune\u201d.<\/li>\n
          3. Click on \u201cMicrosoft Intune\u201d and choose \u201cDevices\u201d.<\/li>\n
          4. Choose the name of the device you intend to wipe remotely and select \u201cWipe\u201d.<\/li>\n
          5. Choose \u201cYes\u201d to confirm your selection.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            When your laptop is turned on, all data will be wiped within 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
