The Auto-Save feature in Microsoft Word minimizes the chances of losing your work when creating and editing your documents.   6. Check the box next to \u201cSave AutoRecover information every _ minutes\u201d. Fill in the number of minutes, which is the frequency at which you desire Word to save your documents. To ensure the safety of your work, enter a small number, like 1, in the \u2018minutes\u2019 box.<\/li>\n
  7. Next, make sure the box next to \u201cKeep the last autosaved version if I close without saving\u201d is checked.<\/li>\n
  8. Now, on the left pane, select the \u201cAdvanced\u201d tab.<\/li>\n
  9. Scroll down to the \u201cSave\u201d section and check the box next to \u201cAllow background saves\u201d.<\/li>\n
