Sound problems can be very annoying because many users love listening to audios and videos on their computers. In this article, I am going to show you how to fix sound issues in Windows 10 or any of the driver problems you encounter in 2018. Many people have experienced sound problems after upgrading to Windows 10. Users also sometimes have sound problems after updating their drivers. Poor communication between Windows 10 and your sound card is the most common source of audio issues. Don\u2019t worry because you are not alone, many others have encounter this issue.<\/p>\n

This problem is easy to fix. Just follow the instruction below:<\/h2>\n

One of the most basic fixes is to click on the volume icon at the bottom right corner of your screen and check the slider to make sure that the volume is up and the speakers are not muted.If there is still no sound after you have checked all the above steps, then there is a problem with your audio device, and I am going to show you how to fix it.<\/p>\n

Solution 1<\/h3>\n

The first thing you need to do is get to Device Manager<\/b>. There are several ways you can do that:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Right-click on This PC on the Desktop and select properties. In the next box, select Device Manager.<\/b><\/li>\n
  2. You can also type device manager into Cortana\u2019s search box, then select Device Manager\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/b>from the search options.<\/li>\n
  3. Alternatively, click on your notifications icon at the bottom left corner of your screen and go to All settings. <\/b>Then type \u201cDevice Manager\u201d in the search box. This will take you to the Device Manager window.<\/li>\n
  4. Another way to do this is to right-click on the Start <\/b>or Home\u00a0<\/b>button, then select Device manager<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now you are in the Device Manager window, look for the \u201cSound, video and game controllers<\/b>\u201d option. Expand it to find the audio device installed on your PC. The names may\u00a0vary depending on the manufacturer. Right-click on the audio device and select Properties\u00a0<\/b>to check the Device Status. Even if the device is working properly, you need to uninstall it. Right-click again on the audio device and select Uninstall<\/b>. Restart your PC when the uninstallation is finished. The correct drivers will automatically be installed if you are connected to the Internet.<\/p>\n

    Solution 2<\/h3>\n

    Running the troubleshooter to fix audio issues in Windows 10. If the above solutions have not fixed the audio problem, you can run the troubleshooter.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. On the task bar, right-click on the Sound icon.<\/li>\n
    2. Click on Troubleshoot sound problems<\/li>\n
    3. Windows will now try to identify the problem of your device and fix it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Solution 3<\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. Right-click on the volume icon at the bottom right corner of your screen and select Playback Devices.<\/b><\/li>\n
      2. Make sure your speakers are set as default, then right-click on Speakers and select Properties,\u00a0<\/b>or double-click to open Speakers Properties<\/b>.<\/li>\n
      3. Go to the Enhancements\u00a0<\/b>tab, check the Disable all enhancements\u00a0<\/b>box, then click on Apply.<\/li>\n
      4. Now, click Test<\/b> to see if you are getting any sound.<\/li>\n
      5. If you are not getting any sound, go to the Advanced\u00a0<\/b>tab and change the default Sample Rate. Change it from 16 bits to something higher. Try one of the 24 Bit settings. Click on Apply to save your settings.<\/li>\n
      6. Test again if that has solved your sound problem. If your issue has not been fixed yet, go back to the Playback Devices window and click on Configure.<\/b><\/li>\n
      7. Click on the Next\u00a0<\/b>button.<\/li>\n
      8. On the next window, under the Full-range speaker heading, check the Front left and right option.<\/li>\n
      9. Click on Next<\/b>, then on Finish\u00a0<\/b>to save your settings.<\/li>\n
      10. Test your sound now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Solution 4<\/h3>\n

        If you are using headphones or external speakers, make sure that the they are connected to the correct port. This is because there are 2 similar ports there – one for the audio jack and the other for the microphone. Connect your speakers to the audio jack port.<\/p>\n

        Solution 5<\/h3>\n

        It may be that your drivers are missing, outdated or incompatible. This sometimes occurs when you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10. There are 3 ways to fix your audio drivers:<\/p>\n

        Case 1: automatically update your audio drivers. Windows 10 will automatically search for your audio drivers online and install them. Do this using the following steps:<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Right-click on the Start or Home\u00a0<\/b>button, click on Device Manager.<\/b><\/li>\n
        2. This will open the Device Manager window.<\/li>\n
        3. Under \u201cSound, video and game controllers\u201d, you will find your audio device.<\/li>\n
        4. Right-click on it and select Update driver.<\/b><\/li>\n
        5. In the next window, click on \u201cSearch automatically for updated driver software<\/b>\u201d.<\/li>\n
        6. Windows will now search for the latest versions of your drivers online and install them.<\/li>\n
        7. Make sure you update all the audio devicespresent.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Case 2: You can also use Auslogics Driver Updater<\/a>. This is a very efficient way to update your audio drivers to the latest versions. You can update all your drivers just in one click.<\/p>\n

          It also ensures compatibility and installs only official driver versions made for your device. Also, before updating your drivers, it backs up for safety. This is to ensure that you can go back to the previous version of your driver if you do not like the updated one.<\/p>\n

          Case 3: Download manually your audio driver directly from the manufacturer\u2019s website. You can search on Google for your PC\u2019s name and model. On the website, the manufacturers provide you with information and downloads of the latest versions of all their drivers. Download only the driver which is specific for your device because any other driver will cause your device to malfunction.<\/p>\n
