  1. Click on Start and go to the Control Panel
  2. Navigate to Appearance and select Folder Options
  3. Select the radio button to show hidden files and folders

Now let’s address the problem:

  1. Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the Processes tab and kill the PresentationFontCache.exe process
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local
  3. Locate the file named FontCache3.0.0.0 and add .bak to the .dat file. This will back up the file just in case you need it in the future
